About Us

Collins Accessibility Solutions is a division of Collins Medical Equipment with a long history of serving the healthcare needs of the community.

Collins started as a pharmacy in 1931 founded by Tom Collins Sr. It was a classic drugstore of its time with a soda fountain and community atmosphere. After WWII, Tom Collins Jr. graduated from UCONN Pharmacy School and joined the business, followed later by his son Jack Collins who came into the business in the 1970s.

The family business expanded many times, including a move next door from the original store in 1963 that gave them 4 times the space. Then again in the 1980s and 90s, Collins Pharmacy moved and expanded to accommodate more inventory, better parking, and overall improved customer service.

In 2002, the prescription department was sold, and the business focused on durable medical equipment. A few years later, the business moved to its current location at 500 Kings Hwy East in Fairfield. Seeing the growing need to help people successfully stay at home, Collins Accessibility Solutions division began with Bryan Collins becoming a Certified Aging in Place Specialist in 2012.

From that time, the division continues to grow and offers tools and information to increase safety and independence in the home. We offer free home evaluations and can equip you or a loved one with a stairlift, ramp, grab bars, a walk-in shower, and more. You can find peace of mind knowing that you are dealing with a company and family that has been trusted with meeting the healthcare needs of our neighbors for 90 years.

Today, Collins Accessibility Solutions has three full-time staff members dedicated to excellent customer service and the growth of the division. Bryan Collins, Director Sales and Marketing, Hagen George, Operations Manager, and Tatyana Cruz, Administration Associate. The Collins Medical Equipment team also offers support to the Accessibility division, ensuring that your needs are met.
